corporate responsibility
l
our workplace
We believe in working hard, making money and having fun and we have the talent and tools to
make it happen. Our success is about attracting and retaining the best people. New employees
comment on how different we are. Our staff retention rate is extraordinary. But there's no resting
on laurels here. We are constantly coming up with new ways to make working at Grass Roots
enjoyable, challenging and rewarding.
Professional and personal
All the evidence suggests we're on the right track.
We've just moved up from 98th to 53rd in the Sunday
Times list of the 100 Best Mid-Size Companies to
work for, thanks to the personal views of our
employees. And the results of our own annual staff
attitude survey get better every year. This year, for
instance, over 90% of employees said they would
strongly recommend working for Grass Roots to others.
There are lots of reasons for this. It's not just that we add
out-of-the-ordinary benefits and rewards to leading
employment practices and competitive salaries. It's also
that our approach is personal. We're geared up to be
flexible, to be able to help every individual realise their
potential at work and balance their responsibilities at
work and at home.
Above and beyond
We're serious about ensuring our employees have fun.
We keep an eye out for people who are working more
than we think is reasonable. We consider requests for
flexible working even from those not covered by legislation.
We share financial success, drawing up a bonus plan
every year for everyone in the business. And we set
great store by our summer and Christmas parties, not
to mention helping everyone in the business celebrate
their birthday with a bottle of Champagne!
As keeping spirits high is a priority, so too is continuous
progress. We also have an Employee Forum to encourage
even more people to make their views heard. We have
extended the online functionality of Exceeding
Expectations, our scheme enabling employees to thank
and reward each other. We have also extended our
optional flexible benefits scheme to include, among other
things, medical insurance and charitable giving.

Our
Grass Roots is a special place to work. And so
it should be. It's our business to engage, inspire
and motivate people.
