Extending our expertise
We are now expending considerable energy, brain power and
investment to find innovative ways of translating our passion
for responsible business into new schemes and solutions. We're
doing this because we have made it our business to help our
clients, partners and suppliers stimulate behaviour that's
socially responsible and environmentally friendly.
Formally embedding our approach to corporate responsibility into
our processes and procedures is helping us. Our first ever
Corporate Responsibility strategy makes sure that everything we
develop meets not only the functional needs of clients, but also
the wider aspirations of individual participants to do the right
thing. Corporate responsibility also now features in our business
development documents and in our supply chain questionnaire.
Delivering the goods
We are listening to clients and partners and leveraging our
own internal experience to create products and services that
have a clear social and environmental benefit. Here are just a
few of the outcomes, some long-established, some brand new.
·
Delivering diversity and disability awareness training: over
60,000 individuals in hundreds of companies have passed
through our Respect for People and Welcoming Disabled
People distance learning programmes.
·
Developing new benefits and rewards to encourage good
practices: we offer clients an integrated, fully-managed flexible
benefits and rewards service now incorporating many of the
leading schemes we have already trialled in-house, such as
electronic childcare vouchers, tax-efficient bikes for work and
carbon offsetting.
·
Capitalising on sectoral knowledge to introduce
innovations: our understanding of how the charity sector
operates has enabled us to, for example, identify two smart
ways we can help out. Recognising that our card-based
rewards system, which replaces traditional paper vouchers,
could help charities drastically reduce the risk of misredemption,
we worked with VISA and exploited closed-loop card technology
to help make their funds go further. We are also using core in-
house services and a partnership with Powergen to distribute
thousands of energy-saving lightbulbs to the customers of our
charity clients.
``
We need to be seen to be taking a lead in order to drive
our clients and suppliers. We are in a unique position to
affect the behaviour of others.

We have been impressed with Grass Roots' professionalism, customer service
and expertise in the equalities field. Their Respect for People diversity
programme has been championed by our multi-professional staff.

Doing business responsibly has always been good business for us. As a result, our
relationships with clients, partners and suppliers are strong, respectful and long-
standing. And the programmes we develop and deliver make a difference for the
better to individuals, teams and entire organisations.
