Benefiting the environment
We've introduced Carbon Offsetting, an innovative and simple way for employees
to offset their individual carbon emissions, as part of our 4You benefits package. The
scheme enables employees to take action to offset all or part of their carbon footprint
and save themselves money at the same time.
By electing to sacrifice a small amount of their salary each month, employees can
offset their carbon emissions through PURE, a charitable organisation that buys and
sells carbon credits from emissions reduction projects. Making the decision to do their
bit through our Carbon Offsetting scheme means that employees can offset their
emissions before tax and National Insurance deductions.

Changing behaviour
We've already built up a head of steam - and good practices - across the business.
We are routinely recycling paper, toner cartridges, plastic cups, magazines, aluminium
cans, mobile phones, etc. We're getting used to using emailing and video conferencing
to avoid unnecessary travel. And many of us are taking advantage of our new green
travel schemes and environmentally-friendly additions to our benefits package.
We're spreading the word internally about our initiatives and achievements - and
what individuals can do to contribute to our goals - through newsletters and poster
displays. We're also working with clients to help them engage their employees and
embed environmental solutions into the benefits, rewards, learning, events and
payment services we develop and deliver for them. Suppliers are also collaborating
with us on initiatives that will have environmental and business benefits for us both.

``
I used the Bike4work scheme to get a bike and
now the Route4work scheme is basically paying
for the cost of the bike. Cycling to work might add
15 minutes to my journey but it quickly became
part of my routine. I tend to sit at a desk all day
so this is now my exercise!
