The car share scheme is really simple
to do each month I just fill in the
form and get my friend to sign it
and then send it off to HR. The
money really helps!

Taking action
This step change in our activities is being driven by the appointment of our
first Corporate Responsibility Manager, Cindy Withey, and by our new
Environmental Action Team. Together, they have created a framework for
action underpinned by an Environmental Policy and a Corporate Responsibility
Code of Conduct which are helping us all appreciate our new approach
and focus on our priorities.
One of the most important things we have done is measure our carbon footprint
which we did in July 07. We started at 4.81 tonnes per full time equivalent (FTE)
employee to be exact and want to get to a 40% reduction by 2020. We are
confident this ambitious target can be reached and will measure our carbon
footprint annually. In July 08 we calculated our carbon footprint for the second
time. Per FTE it has fallen by 25% to 3.57 tonnes, while our total carbon output
has fallen by 15% from 1,323 tonnes to 1,121 tonnes. We're devising an action
plan to help us get even further reductions. And we'll be calling on our motivational and
performance measurement experience to drive and monitor progress along the way.
